My movies
I thought it owuld never end!
Elizabethtown - watched this on DVD with a friend on Sunday. had heard good things about it, so despite the presence of the untalented and much over-rated Orlando Bloom (my opinion is always the right one!), decided to give it a go. Would probably have been better watching this with someone other than Marina, as anything slightly offbeat or unusual goes over the top of her head! So there was much moaning and querying what the chuff was going on. Still, I kind of agree to a point. I am not sure what this movie was trying to achieve. The plot was similar to Garden State - which was fab - troubled bloke goes off to attend the funeral of a deceased parent... Meets quirky girl... Contends with whacky family... I just did not like this film! Rubbish. Orlando - what's the point? He's supposed to be some kind of hunk - all I see is a weedy bloke who looks like he's trying to grow his first moustache and failing miserably.

Mildly impressive
Poseidon - didn't want to see this. Have watched the original many times in my pre-teen years. All that climbing up Christmas trees etc etc, used to love it. Didn't think film needed re-doing. Thus expected this film to be rubbish. OK, so it's predictable, the best fun to be had is guessing who will get their chips next. Good effects though, especially the big wave at the beginning. Good bit of action going on. If you want to see an easy view, then this is the one to see. Worth a couple of hours of your time. I would have killed off the whiney daughter though. If you have seen it you might understand.

All that fuss - and such a let down
Prime - such a big build up - enticing trailer, made the film look funny and all taht jazz. Film was funny, however the funny stuff, at least 95% of it at least, had been in the trailer! Could have ended 20 minutes earlier - real American style dragging out was going on here. When the ending finally arrived - what a bloody let down.

Hugh gets his top off...
X-Men: The Last Stand - I might be a little biased towards this film as I love X-Men, and I love Wolverine even more. So this film could do no wrong in many ways.
I did find it a little odd that half the cast gets bumped off or made human, in fact that was a little deflating. Still, good stuff. So good that I am going again!
The plot was a tad confusing I admit, and the Juggernaut character played by Vinnie Jones is terrible! Storm got a personality though, and the youngsters grew up. I just hope that there will be more of the same. The end of the film leaves it open.

Not anywhere near as bad as the reviews would have you believe...
The DaVinci Code - I've read the book, so the suspense of the film was lost, however I still really enjoyed this film. Even the much hated Tom Hanks didn't ruin it.
I don't know whether it would have been confusing if I hadn't read the book. Liked it though!
Paul Bettany stole the show for me though, he was very good as the creepy monk Silas. I won't be buying the DVD, but I would certainly say it warrants more than the 2 stars Empire gave it.
I also like all the familiar locations - the Louvre being the main one, having quite recently walked down the same corridors, and being set to so so again in a couple of weeks.

Bang bang boom!!
Mission: Impossible III - oooh, very action packed and an explosion a minute. Great stuff. This what an action movie should be. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Philip Seymour Hoffman has got to be one of the best baddies in film history - in my opinion anyway! So cold. Very controlled.
Added bonus here, film also starring one of my favourites, Jonathan Rhys Meyers. Nice to see him talking in his real accent for a change.
Also a pleasure to see Simon Pegg as the geeky computer nerd. From the being the filler in bloke during costume changes at a Steve Coogan show at Birmingham Alex (first time I ever set eyes on him) to MI3 - impressive!
I always love the ridiculous stunts they pull in these films, jumping off buildings, taking out the bad guys and swiping the prize all in five minutes flat. A realistic stunt would be wrong in a film such as this - probably obvious really seeing as the film is Mission Impossible!

Eugh!
Slither - I am not fond of horror. This film has Nathan Fillion - so it was inevitable that I would be unable to resist. Also the fact that it is a horror comedy helped.
I really enjoyed it - despite all the mucus and gore. Nathan is a genius when it comes to delivering one liners. It was funny, entertaining, bloody and disgusting. I liked it! Probably because it was never genuinely scary, I could handle it.
I would highly recommend it!
